Patricia Paolozzi Cain is an exhibiting artist at this year's Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition. The selected work 'Fälthelden (Spirit-field)' is a mixed-media artwork on paper made with coloured pencil, acrylic and collage, measuring 120 cm x 140 cm.  It is from a body of work called 'Opposition and Fellowship' that explores the reconciliation of opposites, taking inspiration from ancient Chinese philosophy, namely I Ching (Book of Changes).

"Fälthelden was made during a period of walking daily in landscapes fragmented by human activity. I tried to follow the practice of not maintaining a fixed attitude - to flow with changeable states and conditions, with continual contrasts in myself and my external actions, adapting and moving. Being led by the balancing up of space and colour in the fragmented landscape, a kind of personal harmony through opposition and fellowship is shaped." - Patricia Poalozzi Cain, 2025.
