Cornucopia | A Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Stacey Gledhill
Posted by Kim Soep on
This November, Stacey Gledhill presents an exhibition of new paintings at Worton Kitchen Garden following her six week residency there.
Titled 'Cornucopia', the solo presentation of paintings responds directly to Worton Kitchen Garden's picturesque setting as well as the garden and farm's commitment to regenerative and sustainable growing. It renders the floral delights and small noticings from around the farm whilst illuminating the positives that natural farming and gardening can yield.
"My process was led by responding to the place, without preconceived ideas of what I would paint. At some point it became clear - the work celebrates abundance, growth and the joy of painting ‘en plein air’ in the summer. The name ‘Cornucopia’ arose naturally from the theme - I have always had an interest in ancient mythology. All the work is framed in sustainably sourced oak and walnut, handmade in a bespoke framing studio in Bristol.”
Stacey Gledhill is a painter living and working in Oxford, UK. Born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand, Gledhill moved to the UK in 2010 to pursue a classical atelier education in drawing and painting in London. Her oil paintings are gestural and stylised depictions of the everyday with a focus on quietude and the transformative qualities of light and colour.
