"'Memory Warp' explores how our perception of scale and significance changes as we look back on childhood. What once seemed immense and all-encompassing often appears smaller and more distant as we grow, yet there's a lingering distortion in how we remember those experiences. This distortion is shaped by our unique personal histories and the lens through which we view the world in the present.

"Dreams are a recurring motif in my work, and this piece was sparked by an image I encountered in a dream—one in which I observed a warped perspective that mirrored the way memories from childhood often feel exaggerated or out of proportion. The theme of "into the light" resonates here as well, since dreams can bring repressed thoughts and memories to the surface. When these hidden fragments emerge, we can examine them with the clarity and understanding that time and experience provide, allowing us to see them in a new light." Mafalda Figueiredo, 2024
