Green Song
Green, green, I love you green.
This is the song of the random gene,
Black the birks and white the gean,
The grasses in the kirkyaird green.
Who can say they know for sure
What grace or fury awaits them
In May’s green
And smiling mantle.
Becalmed by green, bedazzled by green,
Burnt, broken and blown away
By the inexorable urgency of green.
Green, green, I love you green,
This is the song of the random gene.
Black the birks and white the gean
The grasses in the Kirkyaird green.
