Pippa Mills (b. 1962) lives in Gloucestershire. She has a BA in Fine Art Painting from Gloucestershire College of Art. Aside from practicing her painting she currently cares for her eldery mother. Her small paintings on board (of views out the window, garden scenes, moments on a walk) are a personal dialogue between her inner and outer world.
"‘Late November’ was painted from my window looking down on a neighbour's summer house. It is a painting about the ever changing weather, light and shapes of the seasons. Berger identified solitude and longing as characteristics of the heron, I have an affinity with both, I value the solitude needed to paint, and when I look outside there is always a longing for more... more connection with the sky, breeze, sun and movement.
"In literature and mythology homecoming and patience are referred to in relation to herons. I think of this when I look at this view of the garden and, also, waiting patiently to return to my painting self."
