Carol Douglas
Carol Douglas lives and works in York. Her abstract compositions of household objects draw on a wide range of themes and ideas, such as the 'kitchen sink' movement, abstract-expressionists like Philip Guston, as well as her own reflections on domestic-life.
"I experiment with mono-printing on fabric, painting on hessian, blind drawing and painting and collage as well as traditional painting styles. I also like to play with the concept of scale, transferring images between different size canvasses."I hope that people who see my work find it both visually exciting and somewhat amusing. The domestic has always been my focus and speaks of my personality and history." - Carol Douglas, 2020
