"Scots pine, Juniper and Yew are our native evergreen. As I wander In a landscape now devoid of any trees - windswept, sea salted and low winter light- the colour of the lichen pings.

Lichen is neither plant nor animal. It is non-parasitic, it gives food and shelter, is a natural dye and an indication of clean air. Slow growing, it is possibly earths oldest organism.

“Crotal Rocks“ - 'crotal' being a generic gaelic word for lichen - is inspired by the yellow lichen on rocks set against the wintery gray sea and sky.
